'70s Schott Perfecto Leather Motorcycle Jacket Distressed. this is a well loved and road worn jacket with lots of areas of great distressing and wear to the leather. there are some stud embellishments that were added by the previous owner who was a biker. lining in the body is in great shape, there are some tears to the lining around the wrists. all in all this jacket already has years of love put into it and is ready for more! if you are looking for a jacket that has history and character, this one is for you. best fit medium. freshly cleaned and conditioned

a counter culture classic and the product of New York City, the Schott's Perfecto was the world's first motorcycle jacket released in 1928 for Harley Davidson. the jacket boomed in popularity in the '50s when Marlon Brando wore the jacket in his film "The Wild One". after the release of the movie the jacket was subsequently banned by many school systems for being a symbol of rebellion, and the sales of the jacket suffered. still the jacket survived and was seen on the backs of motorcycle riders in the '50s and '60s most notably James Dean, who rarely rode without one. moving into the '70s The Ramones brought the jacket to a new crowd, and the Perfecto quickly became a symbol for punk. as the decade progressed the jacket was adopted by many working class Americans, as Bruce Springsteen wore it on stage during his early performances. Joan Jett introduced the public to her love of the Perfecto in the 80s, and the jacket became a fast favorite for women all through the decade.
